No - As with regular face-to-face consultations, our doctors cannot backdate medical certificates. This is because there is no way the doctor can determine if you were too ill to attend work or school in the past, only in your present state.

In Australia, online medical certificates are legally valid if issued by a registered doctor or health practitioner. However, some employers may have specific sick leave policies and could require an in-person consultation in certain situations. It’s always advisable to review your employer’s leave policy guidelines.

If you require a Mask Exemption, ‘Fit for Work’ Certificate, ‘Fit to Fly’ Certificate, Childcare/’Back to School’ Clearance, Centrelink Certificate, University Form completed, Work Cover or Gym Cancellation Certificate, a certificate for missing police station attendances, parole or court appearances, or any external forms completed – you will need to present to a GP in-person to undergo a physical examination and will not be able to use the Instant Consult service for these types of medical documents.
